Candide is a comic operetta by Leonard Bernstein, based on Voltaire’s satirical novel of the same name. The story follows the naïve and optimistic Candide as he embarks on a whirlwind journey across the world, encountering war, disaster, and heartbreak—all while clinging to his tutor Pangloss’s belief that they live in "the best of all possible worlds."
